Adath Shalom

Adath Shalom is a Masorti community, a member of Masorti Olami and the World Council of Synagogues, and affiliated to the Conservative movement in the United States.

Our services and rituals are traditional and egalitarian. Our community emphasizes a modern and open approach to contemporary issues in Jewish life and is committed to increasing dialogue among different cultures and religious groups.

Visitors are always welcome.

In 1987, a handful of Jewish families decided to create a new congregation, which would be afiliated to the Conservative Movement. That was the birth of Adath Shalom.

This new congregation seemed to fulfill the expectation of many French Jews and congregants' number grew steadily. The first location, a second-floor 3-room apartment located on the west side of Paris became rapidly too small, so Adath Shalom's Congregation started an ambitious project : a new synagogue.

This ambitious project has been completed : thanks to the generosity of the congregants, the new synagogue and community center include now a multi-function space which can be used for Hebrew classes, lunches, conferences or other events. With its ingenious system of moveable partitions, the size of the synagogue is modulable from 80 to 300 seats.

This achievement has been a great success but does not mean the end of our efforts. As it is said in Pirkei Avoth: "The day is short, the labour vast"...  This exciting adventure is going on….

P.S. "Adath Shalom" in hebrew, means "Congregation of Peace"…that's a permanent challenge…
